The School Education Department Punjab has issued important instructions regarding School Based Assessments (SBAs), Tests, and Grade-8 Examinations across Punjab.
According to the notification dated 14 March 2026, the Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority will independently conduct and oversee the assessment process for public schools, including outsourced schools under Punjab Education Foundation and Punjab Education Initiative Management Authority.
Key Instructions
• PECTAA will conduct independent assessment and examination processes for Grade-8 and SBAs.
• 25% of SBA papers across Punjab will be validated through an independent testing system.
• Schools must preserve checked assessment papers for verification and validation purposes.
• A coordinated mechanism will be developed between PECTAA and district CEOs.
• In case of faulty checking or inflated results, the Head of School will be held responsible and legal action may be taken.
• Schools are encouraged to report real and accurate results, and appreciation will be given for transparency.
• The performance of DPIs, Directors, and CEOs will be assessed based on the quality of assessment checking in their districts.
All education authorities and school heads are directed to strictly follow these instructions to ensure transparency, fairness, and integrity in the assessment system across Punjab.
