The Government of the Punjab, Higher Education Department, has issued an official notification dated 17th January 2026, directing all Public and Private Sector Colleges and Universities in Punjab to strictly comply with new attendance-related instructions.
According to the notification, no student shall be barred, restricted, or denied admission or appearance in examinations on the basis of attendance shortage. Furthermore, no attendance-based fine or penalty shall be imposed under any circumstances.
The department has clearly stated that any violation of these instructions will invite strict legal and administrative action against the concerned institution and its management.
This notification takes immediate effect.
All Vice Chancellors, Principals, regulatory authorities, and relevant officials have been informed for compliance and necessary action.
