The Punjab School Education Department is actively considering strategic reforms to the provincial academic calendar to minimize student learning loss caused by extended closures.
Speaking on the initiative, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat emphasized the need to maintain educational continuity. “Extended vacations disrupt the learning process. In consultation with stakeholders and the private sector, we aim to design a balanced system where vacations are clearly defined, yet the academic loss of our students is effectively recovered,” the Minister stated.
To balance weather challenges with educational requirements, the government is introducing structured summer camps (lasting 30 to 45 days) and exploring alternative schedules, including alternate Saturday classes post-vacation. The goal is to safely increase active school days from the current ~140 days closer to the global standard of 180 days, ensuring the bright future of our youth.
