The Government of Punjab is set to present a historic budget of PKR 5,131 billion for the fiscal year 2026-27. The proposed budget reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening education, healthcare, social protection, and public welfare initiatives across the province.
According to budget estimates, total expenditures are projected at PKR 3,569.6 billion, with PKR 650 billion allocated for salaries and PKR 505.8 billion for pensions. Salary increases for government employees are expected to align with decisions announced by the federal government.
The education sector has been given significant importance, with a proposed allocation of over PKR 900 billion, while the healthcare sector is expected to receive PKR 680 billion to improve medical facilities and public health services.
Key development initiatives included in the budget proposal include:
- PKR 150 billion for the Suthra Punjab Program
- PKR 25 billion for social protection initiatives
- PKR 580.2 billion for operational expenditures
- Student support through Laptop, Electric Scooter, and Bicycle Schemes
- PKR 20 billion for Honhaar Scholarships
- PKR 18 billion for University Grants
- PKR 35 billion for the Ramadan Relief Package
- More than PKR 80 billion for subsidies
- PKR 10 billion for Kisan Card
- PKR 3 billion for Himmat Card and Minority Card
- PKR 7 billion for Parwaaz Card
The proposed budget aims to promote economic growth, educational opportunities, youth empowerment, social welfare, and improved public services throughout Punjab.
